GLVAR joins with Habitat for Humanity

The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors (GLVAR) is helping build a new home for a Las Vegas family in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas Inc.

Nearly 100 GLVAR volunteers are expected to participate alongside framing crews during the weekend's construction.

The GLVAR's annual Framing Day benefits local families served by Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas, a Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing.

The GLVAR raised money for this project through its annual silent auction held during its 2006 installation gala. This is the sixth house in six years that the GLVAR has sponsored.

The GLVAR is aiming to again help build a new home. Habitat for Humanity representatives are currently in the process of selecting the family that will live in the home once it's completed.

Work begins at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 11. It is expected to conclude at 4:30 p.m.

The site of the new home is 1937 Gregory Street, just south of Lake Mead Boulevard near Losee Road.

GLVAR was founded in 1947 and provides its more than 17,000 local members with education, training and political representation.
