Special to real estate
If you're looking to buy or sell a home in Southern Nevada, the weekend of April 28 and 29 might be a good time to do something about it. So says Kolleen Kelley, president of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors, which is promoting its third annual Realtor Open House Weekend on those dates.
"We're reaching out to our nearly 11,000 local Realtors and to everyone interested in buying or selling a home to encourage and promote open house events on April 28 and 29," Kelley said. "Home shoppers will be able to see dozens of open houses all over town, all in one weekend. They can find the right home at the right price, while saving time and money."
After starting as a series of local events around the country, the Realtor Open House Weekend has gone global. According to the National Association of Realtors, more than 50 countries participated in last year's event.
The event is designed to attract and inform homebuyers and offers opportunities to educate the public about the benefits of home ownership. For every two homes sold, national studies show one private-sector job is created. Every home sold at today's national median price generates nearly $60,000 in economic activity, Kelley said.
Kelley said home shoppers are encouraged just to look and won't be pressured to buy.
All GLVAR members, potential homebuyers and sellers are encouraged to participate in this free event. GLVAR will be providing signature blue Realtor "R" balloons for participating agents to display at open house events. GLVAR will also be promoting open houses to its nearly 11,000 local members, via traditional and social media and at all GLVAR events. All open houses submitted to GLVAR by April 23 will be highlighted in GLVAR's Multiple Listing Service, on LVRJ.com, and displayed on the home page of www.LasVegasRealtor.com.
