GOP primary: Some straw to chew on

Straw polls are often not worth the scraps of paper they’re printed on, but here’s an interesting one pulled together after Friday night’s GOP debate at the Orleans sponsored by AM 720 KDWN.

Approximately 800 ballots were distributed, and 595 were returned, KDWN executive John Shaffer says.

If the poll is accurate at all, the U.S. Senate primary race is far from over. And Sue Lowden still has work to do to impress GOP voters with her conservative credentials.

The leaders:

  • Sharron Angle, 27.1 percent
  • Danny Tarkanian, 24.9 percent
  • John Chachas, 21.3 percent
  • Lowden, 16.1 percent
  • Chad Christensen, 10.6 percent

In the Congressional District 1 race, Joseph Tatner – who? – swamped the competition by dragging in 57.7 percent.

In the Congressional District 3 race, Joe Heck scored an even higher mark, 72.9 percent.

What does it all mean?
