Green Energy Kabuki Theater, 4.0

Once again Sen. Harry Reid was apparently unable to get a qualified speaker to his National Clean Energy Summit 4.0 in Las Vegas on Aug. 30 so the keynote will be handled by Vice President Joe Biden. Could Al Gore have been far behind?

Oh well, Biden's always good for an outrageous statement or two. But other than that, he's about as intellectually honest about the whole green energy debate as Sen. Reid and President Obama.

Tell us again how it works to oppose subsidies to "big oil" energy companies, but not subsidies to green energy companies? And can you name one clean energy project that is not free of government help and has any hope of sustainability in the market place? And, tell us again the bedtime story about Ethanol saving the world?

The whole green energy summit is one giant left-wing Kabuki performance. It's far more about politics than science, so maybe that's the wisdom of the Joe Biden keynote. He'll be as credible on green energy as he is on the global warming theory.

But do us a favor, Harry and Joe. When you get around to the part where you tell us green energy is the fix for the economy, will you please at least do us the courtesy of smiling when you say it?
