Gym owner works out deal with Crossroads

Chris Yakimchuk and his wife, Shelley, purchased a pair of vehicles from Crossroads Auto Center at 6175 W. Sahara Ave. With a 2013 Cadillac CTS driven by Chris and Shelly powering a sporty 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, the couple found the best at the dealership.

“We found the vehicles on the Internet and once we met the owners, David Freeman, his wife, Cindy, and daughter, Sarah, we felt very comfortable with them,” said Chris Yakimchuk, a Canadian businessman who has lived in Las Vegas since 2010.

“They were just more personable and laid-back and we liked that. They knew what we wanted and there was no pressure at all. In some cases when you enter an automobile dealership, there can be too much pressure to make the deal and that simply wasn’t the case here.”

Both vehicles serve a purpose. The Cadillac CTS also has a powerful six-cylinder V-6 with loads of power.

Shelly Yakimchuk loves the sporty look of her yellow Camaro along with the fact that she gets a thrill out of the 300-horsepower engine.

“You can take it anywhere and it fits in well,” she said. “It doesn’t matter whether we’re going to a show on the Strip or sightseeing in Red Rock.”

In addition, the fact that the Yakimchuks purchased preowned vehicles with warranties saved them thousands of dollars.

“Purchasing a good preowned vehicle is also the sign of good business practice,” Chris Yakimchuk said.

The Yakimchuks are also business owners in southwest Las Vegas where they operate Yak’s Fitness at 7375 S. Durango Drive.

“He has a top-shelf gymnasium,” said David Freeman, who has been in the car business for more than 22 years. “The gym is the Cadillac of fitness centers.”

The Yakimchuks and the Freemans became friends instantly once they both discovered that they were business owners with very similar tastes in business values. There’s little doubt they’ll be business associates and friends for years to come.

“We are totally different businesses but similar business models,” Chris Yakimchuk said. “In both the Freemans’ dealership and our gymnasium, when you ask to speak with someone, you speak with the owner. That’s an important element when it comes to business.”
