Hauck looks to getting Rebels on track
Here are highlights from UNLV football coach Bobby Hauck on today's Mountain West Conference teleconference. His Rebels play New Mexico at 7 p.m. Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium. Both teams are 0-3, including 0-1 in the conference.
On this past Saturday's 30-7 loss at Idaho: "I'm really disappointed and surprised at how poorly we played in the first half at Idaho."
On quarterback-turned-safety Mike Clausen: "I think he's got good athletic ability. He's got a good understanding of the game. He likes the physical part of the game. If you're describing a guy who's good at safety, that's how you'd describe it."
On starting quarterback Omar Clayton's play: "We haven't done much offensively. That would be it in a nutshell."
On the team's struggles: "We're breaking down. It's up to me as the head coach to make sure we're getting 11 guys doing it the right way."
On bad plays building upon each other: "One thing we need to correct is when something negative happens, we don't go crazy. We need to do our jobs."
