Hauck says Rebels won’t change approach against Colorado State

This is one of the few opportunities this football season where UNLV (1-5, 1-1 Mountain West Conference) appears to have a legitimate shot at a victory when the Rebels visit Colorado State (1-5, 0-2) at 11 a.m. PDT Saturday.

But Rebels coach Bobby Hauck said on this morning's MWC teleconference that his team can't change its approach.

"We've prepared the same every week no matter who we play," he said. "We've got to do our best to get a win, and certainly Colorado State will do the same, too."

Hauck acknowledged the UNLV team he inherited as the first-year coach is far from being where he wants it.

"We're fighting an uphill battle, and I admire the kids' willingness to go out and fight," he said.

Hauck also managed to put in a plug when asked about suspended wide receiver Phillip Payne's status.

"I'm not going to get into that today," he said. "If you need a quote, you can look at the Las Vegas papers."
