Heck in Afghanistan

Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev., and other lawmakers touring U.S. war zones this week were in Afghanistan today and met with President Hamid Karzai, according to reports from the region.

Karzai told the lawmakers, being led by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to scale back U.S. military operations that are killing civilians, according to AFP, the French press agency.

The six-member delegation also attended a memorial at Bagram airfield for five U.S. soldiers killed last Saturday, according to Politico, which cited a Twitter feed from the U.S. Embassy at Kabul.

The delegation spent Monday in Pakistan and were in Iraq over the weekend. They are expected back in the United States by this weekend.
