Heck town hall could get lively

U.S. Rep. Joe Heck is having a constituent town hall meeting Wednesday evening in Boulder City, and it could get lively, as the Nevada State AFL-CIO is looking to pack the hall.

Danny Thompson, executive secretary treasurer of the labor organization, issued a call to action this week for a big turnout to pressure the U.S. House Republican freshman.

"This is a great opportunity to hold Heck accountable for his anti-worker positions, and his recent vote to end Medicare as we know it and replace it with underfunded vouchers. EVERYONE who comes — including you — will be able to ask a question in the meeting," Thompson said in an email to members.

The AFL-CIO is even offering rides to the town hall, which is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the city hall on California Avenue.
