Hectic week tough on Air Force, too

The conventional wisdom is the short week is more detrimental for UNLV's football team, but it's not easy for Air Force, either.

Air Force (7-4, 4-3 Mountain West Conference), which plays the Rebels (2-8, 2-4) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sam Boyd Stadium, has to deal with the demanding academy schedule in addition to speeding up the preparation time for this game.

"Our guys have 18 semester hours, and at this point in the season we have a little bit going on academically," Falcons coach Troy Calhoun said this morning. "The whole key at the academy, especially in the sports that compete in the Mountain West Conference, is to find the fine line of balancing being well-prepared but getting the work done in school. You've got to get your practice in. You just have to."
