Hell Freezes Over: Governor makes capable staff choices

The list of Gov. Jim Gibbons’ appointment missteps is long and ugly, but this time I think he’s made two safe, competent deputy chief selections: former Assemblyman Lynn Hettrick and former Nevada Commission on Ethics Executive Director Stacy Woodbury.

I guess members of Metro’s Bomb Squad were too frightened of the duty Hettrick and Woodbury will be asked to do on behalf of the embattled governor at the helm of a state mired in recession.

From the press release:

"The additions of Mr. Hettrick and Ms. Woodbury will have immediate positive impacts on my office and their conservative philosophies on government and taxation will help the citizens and businesses of Nevada," Governor Gibbons said, "Both of these people have strong records of honorable public service and will help me accomplish many of my goals, including expansion of renewable energy in Nevada, guiding Nevada through these difficult economic times, and preparing Nevada for the economic recovery that will come."
