Heller opponent is out

A Douglas County woman who came out early as the would-be Democratic opponent of Rep. Dean Heller has dropped her bid, the AP reports.

Cindy Trigg, president of the Douglas County School Board, told AP she didn't have time to fulfill her school board duties and raise money for her congressional run.

Trigg's filing last week with the Federal Election Commission showed her early fundraising wasn't going well. She had just $3,300 on hand as of the end of June, hardly a good showing to compete with Heller's $255,000.
