Henderson approves landscape agreement for Paradise Pointe Park

The Henderson City Council on Tuesday approved a landscape architecture services agreement in the amount of about $272,000 for Paradise Pointe Park, a neighborhood park at the southwest corner of Horizon Ridge Parkway and Archer Glen Avenue.

The 5.7-acre park, which is less than a mile from the Sloan Canyon national Conservation Area, will be designed by JW Zunino, a Las Vegas-based firm.

Officials estimate the park will be completed in the summer of 2015 at a total cost of about $3.1 million. It is being funded by residential construction taxes and money generated by the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act.

The park will include an open turf area, a basketball court, playground equipment, picnic areas, pedestrian trails and a restroom building.

Also, no qualifying bids were received involving the purchase of about 16 acres at the southeast corner of Buckhorn Street and Aurora Drive, so City Council members took no action.

The council had adopted a resolution in mid-October expressing its intent to sell the property at public auction for a minimum price of $3,385,000. The land is located near South Gibson Road and West Horizon Ridge Parkway.
