Henderson Chamber of Commerce names new executive director
After about two months of searching , the Henderson Chamber of Commerce has named Scott Muelrath its new executive director.
Former president and CEO Alice Martz retired in June after 25 years of service.
"Bringing on Scott means we have officially entered the next era of opportunity for the Henderson chamber," Rick Smith, chairman of the board of directors, said in a statement.
Muelrath, the current general manager at the Galleria at Sunset mall, is expected to officially step into his position Sept. 6.
Before his new role as director, Muelrath had been a chamber member, board member and volunteer.
"Scott brings a commitment to the community and a history of involvement with businesses from one- to two-person small businesses to very large organizations," Smith said.
The chamber received numerous resumes from across the city and the country.
"It seemed like a unique opportunity," Muelrath said. "I have been with For est City (which owns and manages the Galleria) eight years, and I thought I had the good sense to know what it takes to do business."
Muelrath said he was happy to hear the news after a long interview process.
"I'm honored," Muelrath said. "I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to take the chamber in a new direction. First thing we have to do is establish a new strategic plan."
