CAMPAIGN COLLECTS HAIR TO BENEFIT CHILDREN
Disney On Ice is expected to kick off its production of "Dare To Dream" with its Wigs for Kids campaign from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road.
The event is designed to collect donated hair to benefit children suffering from medically related hair loss.
Each person donating is expected to receive two tickets to "Dare To Dream."
Collections are scheduled to be accepted through Jan. 15 at MasterCuts at Galleria at Sunset, MasterCuts at 3680 S. Maryland Parkway and HairMasters at 2225 N. Rampart Blvd.
REGISTRATION FOR 2013 PROGRAMS SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN JANUARY
Registration for the 2013 winter and spring programs for the city of Henderson's Parks and Recreation Department is expected to begin at 5 a.m. Jan. 2.
Patrons can sign up at the self-serve kiosks at City Hall, 240 S. Water St.; the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road; and the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway.

MEMOIR WRITING CLASS PLANNED FOR FRIDAYS IN JANUARY
Life Stories Nevada, a memoir writing class, is scheduled to begin Jan. 4 at Merrill Gardens at Green Valley Ranch, 1935 Paseo Verde Parkway.
Classes are slated from 10 to 11:30 a.m. each Friday in January.

FUNDRAISER SEEKS DONATIONS FOR SHADE TREE SHELTER
A fundraiser to raise money for the Shade Tree shelter is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday in Henderson.
Tickets are $200 per person and $300 per couple. Guests must RSVP to receive the location.
The goal is to raise more than $100,000 for the shelter at 1 W. Owens Ave., North Las Vegas.

WEIGHT-LOSS CHALLENGE OFFERED FOR HENDERSON RESIDENTS
Henderson has scheduled its second annual weight-loss challenge to encourage people to slim down in 2013.
The challenge is 12 weeks long and is scheduled to end with a celebration at 5:30 p.m. April 11 at the Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Road.
The event is open to people 13 or older. Participants can weigh in from 6-8 a.m. or 6-8 p.m. Jan. 14-18 at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road; the Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Road; the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway; the Heritage Park Senior Facility; the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway; the Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.; or the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.
Participants will receive a free one-week fitness pass to any city of Henderson recreation center.

TENNIS ASSOCIATION SEEKS DONATIONS
The United States Tennis Association-Nevada seeks donations of old wooden tennis rackets, usable tennis rackets, old trophies, ball machines, items for a silent auction or raffle, a digital photo camera, an office phone system and computers or laptops. Items can be dropped off at the USTA-Nevada office, 1333 N. Buffalo Drive, Suite 130.
