Drop off donations during
holiday shopping event
The Dream Networking Event has been scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St. The event is expected to benefit the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. Guests are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys and gently used or new coats.
More than 70 vendors are expected to be at the event featuring product sales and services for holiday shopping.

SHOPPING DAYS EVENT
OFFERS HELP FOR PARENTS
The city of Henderson is offering Shopping Days from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 17 at Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.
The event allows parents to drop off their children for supervised fun and activities, leaving the adults free to go shopping. Children aged 5 to 12 are welcomed to enjoy games and crafts for $20 per child. Registration is required one week in advance.

MACY'S BELIEVE CAMPAIGN RAISES MONEY for Make-A-Wish foundation
Macy's has launched its Believe Campaign and encourages children to drop off their letters to Santa by Dec. 24 at any Macy's store.
For every letter received, Macy's plans to donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Macy's said it will donate up to $1 million.
The Macy's Santa and the National Santa Tour bus are slated to visit Macy's at the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road, on Dec. 9.

HENDERSON FIRE FIGHTERS ASSOCIATION DONATES TO USO
The Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada Benevolent Association donated $10,000 to the United Service Organizations Las Vegas on Nov. 15.
The donation is expected to go toward expanding the USO Travel Center at McCarran International Airport, which functions as an airport lounge for military personnel, veterans and military families.
The center plans to expand by 1,100 square feet to create an area devoted to children, including a place where servicemembers can record themselves reading books to send video messages to their children.
GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR NONPROFITS
The Henderson Community Foundation announced its grant initiative for area nonprofits.
Nonprofits that operate in Henderson or serve the Henderson community are encouraged to apply for the competitive grant. If selected, the nonprofit could be awarded up to $2,500 for a nonspecific purpose with the intent of expanding the capacity of the nonprofit.

Smith's SupportS St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Through $130,000 Gift
Smith's Food & Drug executives presented St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation with a check for $130,000 in support of the Children's Miracle Network children's charity care program.
The contribution will assist families that are struggling to pay their child's medical costs after trauma or serious illness.
St. Rose Dominican Hospitals is the only Children's Miracle Network hospital system in Southern Nevada.
HELP OPERATION HOMEFRONT
COLLECT GIFTS FOR CHILDREN
Operation Homefront Nevada and Dollar Tree are collecting holiday gifts for military children in Nevada. The toys will be donated by patrons of the more than 4,000 Dollar Tree and Deal$ stores nationwide.
Last year's effort donated more than 6 million toys nationwide.
Toys will be collected through Dec. 6. Gifts will be distributed to military children during holiday events. In areas where Operation Homefront does not have a chapter, local military support groups will distribute the toys to military families and their children.
