SEMINAR TEACHES ABOUT
TAKING CONTROL OF WEIGHT GAIN

The Fat Head, Fat Body seminar is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Club Sport Green Valley, 2100 Olympic Ave. The seminar is set to discuss the mind's role in weight gain, why people overeat and how to take control.

Southern HilLs Republican women
to host monthly luncheon today

Mark Hutchinson, lead attorney for redistricting and health care lawsuits, is scheduled to speak today at the Southern Hills Republican Women's presidential poll at Buckman's Restaurant, 2600 Hampton Road. Doors are scheduled to open at 10:45 a.m., with lunch being served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the speaker.

Two drawings are planned: a 50-50 drawing and one for a basket donated by Paula Richter to benefit the military.

Members also are asked to bring stocking items for the troops to donate to the Blue Star Mothers. Reservations are $22. For reservations or more information, call Donna Lakers at 616-0056.

HENDERSON OFFERS FAMILY FITNESS WALK

The city of Henderson is inviting families to the Family Fitness Walk from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Equestrian Park, 1200 Equestrian Drive.

FREE DENTAL SCREENING
SCHEDULED AT LIBRARY

As part of its 60 Days to Better Health series, Henderson Libraries has scheduled a free dental health screening from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The UNLV School of Dental Medicine plans to host the presentation, which will teach participants about oral health and how to take care of teeth.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required by calling 207-4261.

LIBRARY HOLDS CHALLENGE
TO RAISE MONEY

Henderson Libraries has launched its Grand Challenge to see who can raise $1,000 in 30 days. The organization is encouraging individuals and teams to compete to raise $1,000 in the most creative way possible. Four groups already have accepted the challenge. People can enter the challenge at hendersonlibraries
foundation.org.

This challenge is part of the foundation's effort to raise $1 million over the next year.

Green Valley United Methodist Church plans rummage and craft fair

A Trash to Treasure rummage and holiday craft fair is planned from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at Green Valley United Methodist Church, 2200 Robindale Road. Used household items, clothes, toys, books and furniture will be for sale. Crafters will be selling their wares as well, such as quilted and sewn items, handmade clay and beaded jewelry, woven earrings, fused glass, ceramics and handmade cards. A bake sale also is planned.

St. Viator Holiday Bazaar
set for Nov. 5-6

St. Viator's Holiday Bazaar is set for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov 5 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 6 in the Parish Center, 2461 E. Flamingo Road at the corner of Eastern Avenue.  The event is set to feature arts and crafts, a bake sale, a cakewalk, a silent auction, a $1,500 raffle prize, Gramma's Attic and a food court. Catholic Charities' WIC program moves to new location on Horizon Drive

Catholic Charities' Women, Infant and Children program has moved to a new location at 270 E. Horizon Drive, Suite 109, and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The new location is in line with direct bus routes and should serve as a more convenient location for clients in the Henderson area.

The WIC p rogram provides supplemental foods and nutrition services to pregnant women, their infants and children up to age 5 . Postpartum women also can receive services between six and 12 months after their delivery. WIC also provides referrals to other health and public agencies within the community.

Rio Secco Golf Club to host
Wendy's 3-tour Challenge Nov. 8

Rio Secco Golf Club, 2851 Grand Hills Drive, plans to host the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge to benefit The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption at 9 a.m. Nov. 8. The event, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, is the only professional golf tournament that pits three players from the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour against each other in a head-to-head competition for bragging rights and a share of the $1 million purse.

The Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge event is free and open to the public.

The Champions Tour Team consists of Mark Calcavecchia, Jay Haas and Kenny Perry. The LPGA Tour Team consists of Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and Cristie Kerr. The PGA Tour Team consists of Brandt Snedeker, Boo Weekley and Gary Woodland.
