WITH READERS AT GREEN VALLEY LIBRARY

Representatives from View Neighborhood Newspapers have scheduled an informal meeting with readers to discuss local news coverage in the Henderson and Anthem areas from
5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in the conference room of the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The meeting is co-sponsored by Henderson Libraries.

HENDERSON PLANS A NIGHT
OF BOUNCE HOUSES

Henderson is expected to host its Family Bounce House Night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road.

The event is to feature various bounce houses for children to jump, slide, climb and tumble.

Registration is due Wednesday. The event costs $5 per child.

WORKSHOP EXPECTED TO TEACH PEOPLE ABOUT CRAFTING RESUMES

Henderson Libraries is scheduled to put on a career building workshop at 10 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

Featuring career consultant PJ Sheldon, participants are expected to learn how to craft a cover letter and resume.

HENDERSON ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS
TO RECYCLE CHRISTMAS TREES

Residents can drop off Christmas trees to be recycled through Jan. 17.

All nonorganic material including lights, tinsel, wires, nails and ornaments must be removed from the trees.

People can drop off trees at Acacia Park, 50 Casa Del Fuego St.; Anthem Hills Park, 2256 N. Reunion Drive; the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, 298 Arroyo Grande Blvd.; Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Drive; the Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.; Pecos Legacy Park, 150 Pecos Road; and the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.

MOVIE NIGHT SCHEDULED JAN. 19
AT WHITNEY RANCH RECREATION CENTER

The city of Henderson is scheduled to host Snow Jam from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.

The event is set to include a double feature movie with "Snow Buddies" and "Happy Feet."

Participants can also make Play-Doh snow and other winter crafts.

Snow Jam costs $10 per youth and is open to children 5 to 12 years old.

WORKSHOP TO TEACH PARTICIPANTS
ABOUT COIN COLLECTING

A workshop on coin collecting is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway.

Participants are expected to learn about what makes coins valuable. The exhibit includes historical tidbits on collecting.

The event is open to people 18 or older.

CAMPAIGN HOPES TO COLLECT HAIR

Disney On Ice is expected to kick off its production of "Dare To Dream" with its Wigs for Kids campaign from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road.

The event is designed to collect donated hair to benefit children suffering from medically related hair loss.

Each person donating is expected to receive two tickets to "Dare To Dream" from Jan. 16-20 at the Thomas & Mack Center, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

Collections are scheduled to be accepted through Jan. 15 at MasterCuts at Galleria at Sunset, MasterCuts at 3680 S. Maryland Parkway and HairMasters at 2225 N. Rampart Blvd.

MUSICAL ARTS SOCIETY SEEKS SINGERS

The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society invites singers to be part of its 50th anniversary season. Rehearsals are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday in room 159 of the Beam Music Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway. VEGAS PBS WRITING CONTEST OPEN
TO ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Clark County students in kindergarten through fifth grade can submit their original stories and illustrations as part of Vegas PBS' annual PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. The top submissions will win free enrollment in the 2013 Southern Nevada Writing Project Summer Camp, be published in Vegas PBS Source magazine and receive other prizes. Local winners will also be entered into a national contest. The local contest is sponsored by Easy Student Publishing and the Southern Nevada Writing Project.
