GIRLS SOCCER TEAM TO HOST CARWASH

The Heat girl’s soccer team is planning a car wash from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday near Albertsons, 2642 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway.

For $10, customers are expected to receive a carwash and a coupon for Port of Subs.

The money will be a fundraiser for the team.

dance studio to HOST SILENT AUCTION

The DanceCenter Las Vegas has scheduled a fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. May 25 at the DanceCenter Ballroom & Latin Dance Studio, 3686 E. Sunset Road.

The event is to feature a silent auction and is expected to raise money for Deaf Expression.

The studio also plans to celebrate its third anniversary.

The Henderson Professional Fire Fighters and the Henderson Fire Fighters Benevolent Association are scheduled to host the annual Jeff Mann Memorial Golf Tournament at 7 a.m. Friday at Wildhorse Golf Club, 2100 W. Warm Springs Road.

HELP STAMP OUT HUNGER
IN SOUTHERN NEVADA

Help the Stamp Out Hunger in Southern Nevada effort by leaving a bag of nonperishable food items at your mailbox on Saturday for your letter carrier. Prepackaged bags of non-perishable food can also be purchased at Albertsons Sav-on Pharmacy through Sunday, or shoppers can donate $1, $5 or $10 at the register. A “stamp” will be hung in honor of each donation.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION SEEKS INPUT ON PROPOSED TRANSIT SERVICE CHANGES

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is seeking public input on proposed transit service changes scheduled to take effect starting July 7, pending community feedback.

Proposed changes to some routes include: increased frequencies, schedule and span of service adjustments in addition to modifications to the Boulder Highway Express, Henderson & Downtown Express, Route 212-Sunset Road and Route 402-Sunset/Boulder City. Also, boarding changes are proposed on the Sahara, Boulder Highway and Henderson & Downtown express routes. A full list of proposed changes is available at rtcsnv.com.

NV ENERGY TAKING APPLICATIONS
FOR SOLARGENERATIONS PROGRAM

NV Energy’s SolarGenerations program is accepting applications for the next round of solar energy projects through 5 p.m. May 17.

Successful applicants will be eligible for rebates to help offset their installation costs for photovoltaic panels that convert sunlight into electricity.

Residential customers and small businesses are eligible. Participants must be NV Energy electric customers.

At the close of the application period, if any category is oversubscribed, participants will be chosen by a lottery conducted by a third party.

Rebates for the next round of projects range from $1.25 to $1.35 per watt for residential customers and small businesses and from $2.80 to $3.10 per watt for schools and public buildings. EASTER SEALS NEVADA RECEIVES GRANT

Easter Seals Nevada, the nonprofit that serves more than 8,000 Nevadans with disabilities every year, was awarded an $800,000 grant last month from Workforce Connections to build employment programming and help place individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment back in the workforce.

Easter Seals Nevada strives to create solutions that help people with disabilities become self-sufficient through education, community partnerships and direct services.
