HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO HOST LECTURE

The Henderson Historical Society is slated to host its next Henderson Speaks lecture at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at the College of Southern Nevada Henderson campus, 700 College Drive.

The event is expected to feature Richard Bryan, a former Nevada governor and U.S. senator, and Guy Rocha, Nevada State College’s associate professor of history.

Labor and race relations at the Basic Magnesium Plant and the impact industrial plants had on Henderson’s economy are expected to be discussed.

The event is free and open to the public.

BASIC HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF ‘63 TO HOST REUNION

The Basic High School class of 1963 is scheduled to host its 50th reunion Oct. 11-13.

HENDERSON COMPANY WINS AWARD FOR VIDEO PRODUCTION

Henderson-based company Trosper Communications LLC received the Award of Distinction in the web-based production category of the 2013 Videographer Awards.

The business won the award for its video on the history of the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada.

BUSINESS EXPO SCHEDULED

The fourth annual Henderson Business Connection & Expo is scheduled at 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Valley Freeway Commerce Center, 7585 Commercial Way.

The free event is slated to include 70 booths for business-to-business networking and panels on topics such as health care law and economic development.
