High school teacher carjacked while taking selfie, assaulted

A woman who teaches at Creekside High School was kidnapped outside her home in East Point, Ga., early Friday morning.

The incident happened near Saddlebrook Apartments off Washington Road around 7:30 a.m. The woman was taking a selfie for the school's "Spirit Week" and when she lowered the phone, the suspect was standing in front of her with a gun.

She did not get a picture of the attacker. Police said the suspect forced the woman into her car sexually assaulted her and pistol whipped her.

He then drove her to a Wells Fargo bank on Camp Creek Road. The plan was for to withdraw money from an ATM, but she jumped out right before they got to the bank. The victim told police, it was an all or nothing moment.

She ran to the Walgreens pharmacy across Princeton Lakes Parkway where employees called 911. The suspect left in the woman's car and police found it on Janice Drive in East Point about 45 minutes later.

Police are still looking for the suspect.

The woman was assaulted and received minor injuries from jumping out of the vehicle, but she is expected to be okay.
