Hillside estates begin construction within MacDonald Highlands

MacDonald Highlands, a luxury community located in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley, features Glenbrook Canyon, a neighborhood of 14 lots ranging from 1 to 5 acres.

Construction has begun on four custom homes, the largest measuring more than 15,000 square feet, and all are being built on hillsides.

Potential residents will have surrounding views of the mountain range and the Las Vegas Valley, according to Rich MacDonald, developer of the community.

"Two of the homes under construction are being built by my own company because we noticed buyers were hesitant to purchase a hillside lot, not knowing what their costs to construct would be," he said. "So our sales staff picked two of the steepest lots in Glenbrook Canyon and we designed these incredible homes and have been keeping detailed costs and photographic records for people to review.

"We invite prospective buyers to come out and walk the sites and take a look at our notes and I think they will be very pleased and surprised by both the designs of the homes and the construction costs," MacDonald said.

Both MacDonald Highlands homes are about 6,500 square feet and provide views of the Las Vegas Valley. Features includes personal home theaters, wines cellars, entertainment rooms, gourmet kitchens with Wolf and Miele appliances, elevators, disappearing walls of windows, balconies and infinity edges swimming pools and spas.

These custom homes are available for viewing and buyers can make interior designer selections. Both homes are priced for sale at $4.5 million.

MacDonald Highlands rolls across 1,200 acres of mountainous terrain while incorporating DragonRidge Country Club and 10 acres of parks into its development.

Four custom home neighborhoods are available with custom lots that provide a variety of choices for buyers.

Each neighborhood features its own distinct topography and views. Buyers can choose from a variety of terrains including golf frontage, multi-level pads or hillside elevations with views of the golf course, mountain range, or panoramic views of the Las Vegas skyline.

Custom lots range from one-half acre to more than 2 acres. Prices start at $850,000.

DragonRidge Country Club is a private 18-hole championship golf course featuring a stone and glass clubhouse that contains a formal dining room and lounge, separate mixed grill and lounge, exercise facility, swimming pool, golf pro shop and 10,000-square-foot ballroom seating more than 300 guests.

Social membership to the clubhouse is provided upon application approval, according to MacDonald.

More information is available in the information center at 1730 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway. To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, east to Valle Verde Drive and travel south to the corner of Valle Verde and Horizon Ridge Parkway.

The office is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
