Homes for sale reach record level
While local housing prices are holding steady, statistics released by the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors show a record number of single-family homes listed for sale in Southern Nevada, surpassing the previous record set last October, when 23,474 homes were listed for sale.
This month's GLVAR statistics include activity through the end of June. The association distributes such statistics each month based on data collected through its Multiple Listing Service, which does not necessarily account for newly constructed homes sold by local builders. This month's highlights include:
The median sales price of a single-family home sold in the Las Vegas area increased to $305,000. That's up 1.2 percent from $301,352 last month and down 3.2 percent from $315,000 last year.
For local condos and townhomes, the median sales price in June increased to $194,250. That's an increase of 2.2 percent from $189,999 last month and a decrease of 5.2 percent from $205,000 last year.
The number of local homes listed for sale through June increased again. For single-family homes, the GLVAR reported 23,642 homes listed for sale. That's up 2.6 percent from May, when listings were 23,042. That's also up 18.1 percent from June 2006, when 20,026 homes were listed for sale.
