HUD to hold housing forum today

Today, Las Vegas area residents will be able to join representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, National Community Reinvestment Coalition, and HUD-approved housing counseling agencies at a forum to discuss fair lending requirements of the Federal Fair Housing Act.

Issues that will be addressed include how to avoid predatory lending and foreclosure alternatives in the Las Vegas area community.

The purpose of this forum is to educate the general public, faith-based organizations and housing professionals about HUD resources and programs that can assist in eradicating unfair and discriminatory lending practices.

The forum also will address issues related to foreclosure prevention and options that are available to homeowners facing foreclosures.

Attendees will be able to interact with local and national experts involved in enforcing fair lending laws, developing foreclosure prevention strategies, and operating government programs.

The educational forum will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Texas Station Casino.
