In case you missed it
John Connolly's "The Book of Lost Things" is a must-read for lovers of fiction.
This coming-of-age tale focuses on a 12-year-old English boy named David. He has lost his mother, his father remarries and his stepmother becomes pregnant. A lot for a little guy to absorb. He finds comfort in his books, which literally begin to speak to him.
As David tries to run from his reality, he stumbles into a fantasy land. This land is populated by the stuff of fairy tales: heroes, monsters and some very familiar characters twisted just a little bit. Connolly's versions of fabled characters are often hilarious.
The book made me laugh, made me cry and kept me thoroughly entertained. You can't go wrong with this book.
