Inspector Trump on Prejean: ‘Can’t you see she’s beautiful?”

Leave it to that all-around expert Donald Trump to get to the heart of the gay marriage issue via the Inspector Clouseau method.

In the hilarious 2006 version of the “Pink Panther,” Steve Martin’s character is captivated by the impossibly stunning Xania, played by the impossibly stunning Beyonce Knowles.

At one point the inspector cries, “Stop brow-beating her. Can’t you see she’s beautiful?”

So too it is with Trump and Miss California, Carrie Prejean.

In an almost entirely manufactured controversy that has provided the marketing maven Trump with millions in free publicity, Prejean said she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman, which set tongues clucking around the globe.

Trump, who owns the Miss USA pageant and is having much better luck with that than with running his Atlantic City casinos these days, defended Miss California essentially by buttering her up. In more than one interview Trump referred to the obvious, that she’s a beautiful
blonde (and perky, too, from the looks of her topless modeling photos on the Internet.)

Trump was at it again on "Good Morning America," sounding just a little like a guy trying to get next to a woman by defending her honor.

“To a large extent, because of the great beauty of Carrie, it stirred a national debate on an issue that’s been out there a long time,” Trump said.

Sounds like Carrie is stirring more than a debate in The Donald.

Come to think of it, she does look a lot like the future ex-Mrs. Trump.
