Judge candidate takes his dismissiveness of survey to radio
A candidate forum on State of Nevada on KNPR turned into a trash Judge George Assad session for his disingenuous dismissal of poor rating by attorneys — the worst in 2010 — in the Judging the Judges survey and his mischaracterization of the outcome of his discipline for jailing
an innocent woman.
Assad dismissed it as miscommunication between him and his bailiff. He did not mention the Judicial Discipline Commission made him apologize to the woman, only mentioning civil suits against him were dismissed.
Candidate Chris Davis pointed out the only ones who can judge Assad’s actions are the voters because he has judicial immunity. He also quoted from a 2008 Review-Journal editorial that called Assad’s actions “fitting a hostage-taking thug, not someone entrusted to
uphold the law.”
It will be interesting to see whether the incumbent gets through the primary.
