Kids Mix it up in Summerlin

Thousands of valley residents are expected to attend the Summerlin Kids Mix and Frozen Yogurt Festival from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today at Summerlin Centre Community Park, 1800 S. Town Center Drive.

Summerlin Kids Mix is an outdoor, family-friendly festival featuring live performances, children's activities, mascot appearances and a variety of food offerings.

Performers include the world's youngest disc jockey, Baby Chino, local teenage recording artist LexRox, Las Vegas School of Dance and Music and Rockin' Railroad presented by Kidville. Stefanie Scott, who currently appears in the role of Lexi Reed in Disney Channel's comedy series "A.N.T Farm," will meet guests and sign auto-
graphs.

There is no cost to attend the event, but there is a nominal fee for select activities. Free activities include live entertainment, mascot visits, bounce houses, train rides, super soaker zone, face painting and dozens of interactive demonstrations from more than 30 local sponsors including Las Vegas Springs Preserve, Lied Discovery Children's Museum, The Home Depot and American Youth Soccer Organization.

Mascots set to appear include Summerlin's beloved jackrabbit mascot, Summerlin Sam, Mohave Max, Marvel Comics' Spider-Man and Captain America and "Star Wars" storm troopers.

Paintball, airbrush tattoos and a rock-climbing wall activities have fees that vary in price.

Food and drink also will be available for purchase at the event. All-you-can-eat Golden Spoon frozen yogurt tickets are $5 per person.

"Live entertainment, dozens of interactive activities and great food and drink options make this a fun event for attendees of all ages," said Nikkole McCartin, director of marketing for Summerlin. "We hope many will come out and enjoy the festival with us."

To get to Summerlin Centre Community Park from Summerlin Parkway, exit southbound on Town Center Drive. The park is between West Charleston Boulevard and West Sahara Avenue on the east side of the street.

This year's event is sponsored and coordinated by Summerlin in partnership with CBS Radio Las Vegas. Other major sponsors include KB Home, Aloha Pacific, Golden Spoon, The Adventuredome Theme Park, MetroPCS, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Findlay Kia, Weight Watchers and The Smile Generation.
