KING DAY PARADE: Politics on Parade

There were relatively few elected officials at the King parade. Mayor Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, of course, was near the front of the route in the heart of his jurisdiction, riding atop a City of Las Vegas fire engine.

Judge Karen Bennett-Haron and Assemblyman Harvey Munford were among the early route travelers.

City Councilman Steve Wolfson also took in the scene on a magnificent Monday morning.

“It is a special day,” Wolfson says. “It’s special in general every year, celebrating the good work of Dr. Martin Luther King, and particularly because of our president-elect. But I was talking with Harvey Munford a few minutes ago. And we both recognized there’s almost a tie-in between tomorrow and today. It’s kind of a natural blend, if you will. So it’s just real special. I think all of us as Americans have to come together and recognize the accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, and appreciate the history in the making.”
