Left-wingers, Tea Partiers taking the show to Carson City

It wouldn't be a political circus in Nevada without the now-ubiquitous dueling sideshows.

With a Facebook announcement Saturday by the Tea Party group Action is Brewing, the lineup is set for a left-right showdown outside the state legislative building Monday night during Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval's State of the State address.

On the right will be activists courted by Action is Brewing, a Reno-based group that came to the fore during the 2010 election cycle by organizing a Republican gubernatorial debate and opposing the reelection of Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.

AIB leader Debbie Landis posted a notice on Facebook urging followers to support Sandoval's pledge not to increase taxes to balance the budget.

"In this address he will again declare that raising taxes is not in his plan – and we have to show the Governor, the legislature and that state that there is wide spread support for this proposal," the post read, in part.

On the left will be people in a rally led by activists from the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada and the newly formed Nevada Values Coalition.

That group is led by longtime Nevada activist Bob Fulkerson, who recently posted an alternative state of the state address.

"The worst thing a state can do is cut back on higher education and weaken the public services that a strong economy needs," Fulkerson said in the address. Later adding, "These changes will not kill business but they will ensure extremely profitable businesses pay their fair share."
