Lennar’s Lamplight Gardens offers three great-room home designs

From the moment that Jenny Holman walked in the Orchid floor plan at Lamplight Gardens in Silverado Ranch, she said, she knew it was the right one for her.
Holman arrived in Las Vegas from her native Ecuador July 31, 2000. She closed escrow on her very first home on July 31, 2007 -- exactly seven years after she arrived in America.
While Holman was in her native country, her family immigrated to Las Vegas. Her brother, two sisters, mother and father are Las Vegas residents.
"In Ecuador, it is still very frowned on to be a divorced person," she said.
So, when her 12-year marriage ended, she said, she made the decision to join her family in the United States and start a new life.
"It wasn't easy to walk away from all the memories and the material things," Holman said. "I arrived in Las Vegas with two children -- daughter Lizette, then 9, and son David, then 12 -- and two suitcases. That's it. I arrived empty-handed with only my hopes and dreams to realize my own American dream."
"With the love and support of my family I made it to America, and now my life is a dream come true," she said.
The single mom works for a health care company as a coder. She translates the OB/GYN doctor's notes and diagnosis into the accepted code numbers for insurance payment and reimbursement.
"I love my job," Holman said. "I work 10-hour days, but I feel I am doing something important -- something that matters."
Holman said her home search lasted many months.
"My mom lives nearby," she said. "So, every weekend I would drive all over this area of the valley looking at model homes and dreaming. Then I found Lamplight Gardens."
The Orchid is a two-story design with two bedrooms, plus a den, 21/2 baths and a two-car garage.
The main floor houses an open great room that includes the living room, a dining area and a kitchen. The back patio includes a gas stub for a barbecue.
Lamplight Gardens is a gated community designed around a central park and clubhouse.
There also is a community swimming pool, basketball court, equipped children's playground, built-in barbecues and a turn-of-the-century-style gazebo.
With single-family homes priced from the $200,000s in the southeastern valley, Lamplight Gardens is near shopping, schools, and the amenities of Green Valley Ranch in Henderson.
Homes are Energy Star-certified and include programmable thermostats, low-emittance windows and doors, an energy-efficient gas heating system and 13 SEER air conditioning.
Three two-story home designs create the village styling of Lamplight Gardens. Each home has a raised and covered entry porch, and an enclosed backyard.
The homes are based on an open great-room layout and feature three bedrooms, or two bedrooms with a loft; 21/2 baths; and a one-car garage.
Standard upgraded features included in the price of the home are a full appliance package that includes the refrigerator and a washer and dryer.
Other standard features include granite tile countertops; window coverings; raised-panel oak cabinetry; ceramic-tile entry; plush wall-to-wall carpeting; decorative no-wax flooring in the kitchen, laundry room and baths; and high-tech wiring and prewiring.
The home designs include the Lilac model with 1,286 square feet; the Iris with 1,341 square feet; and the 1,369-square-foot Orchid.
To visit the Welcome Home Center for Lamplight Gardens, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, to Eastern Avenue, and exit south on Eastern to St. Rose Parkway. Then travel west on St. Rose to Spencer Street and go north on Spencer to Cactus Avenue.
Models are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except Monday when they close at 3 p.m.
