Milton saw a list, neatly printed by an eight-year-old hand, titled "My Christmas Wish List" and signed "Randee."

As he tucked her in bed for the night, he thanked Randee for being so prompt and precise with her list. "However," he said, "your list has a lot of items, including a trip to Europe and a brand new Mercedes. Do you really think you are going to get those two items?"

"Dad, Mom always said no matter how big or expensive we should ask for what we want, so I did."

Ruby had created so many traditions, but this was one of which Milton was unaware. He cried when he realized that for years the girls had been sharing their most heartfelt wishes and dreams with their mother. He had been living with them all this time without truly "knowing" these three girls he loved so much.
