Lowden event to coincide with Reid fundraiser in Reno
Vice President Joe Biden will have a Republican welcoming committee when he arrives in Reno later this week.
Sue Lowden, a Republican running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., says she'll be outside the Grand Sierra Hotel Friday while Biden hosts a fund-raising event inside for Reid, who has already raised about $12 million to hold onto the seat.
"Biden/Reid event will feature pancakes for $2,400 inside the Reno hotel," according to a statement Lowden sent out Wednesday morning. "The Lowden event will take place in the south parking lot, with free hot coffee and donuts served in exchange for a canned food item to be donated to the Northern Nevada Food Bank."
Lowden is one of two Republicans leading Reid in the polls. Las Vegas businessman Danny Tarkanian is the other, although several others are campaigning for the Republican nomination to challenge Reid.
