Lowden says she can take the heat

In a Review-Journal editorial board meeting earlier this week, U.S. Senate hopeful Sue Lowden said she was prepared for any criticism that comes her way in the coming months as she attempts to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

"The scrutiny that we're going to see in the next couple of months is going to be more than I've ever experienced, more than any of the candidates have ever experienced," she said. "And we're ready for it."

Although she played coy when it came to criticizing her chief primary opponent, Danny Tarkanian, she allowed, "I am a business woman who's been around since 1978. Folks know me, many do, in Nevada as someone who's worked hard for our community.

"I'm going to talk about my time in the Legislature. I did win a tough race. It's not like I never won a race."

(Tarkanian, by the way, has never won a race.)
