Lt. Gov. race ads go negative

Two Democrats vying for the nomination to challenge Republican Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki in the fall are running new, negative ads on television.
In one ad set to run in Northern Nevada, Sparks-area aviation software consultant Robert Randazzo criticizes Reno city councilwoman Jessica Sferrazza, daughter of former Reno mayor Pete Sferrazza.
The ad features a woman at a desk in an office saying why she intends to vote for Randazzo: "His opponent, Jessica Sferrazza, and her father have been involved in politics for years, but a career politician is not what Nevada needs," the woman says. "We need a qualified lieutenant governor that puts Nevadans back to work. That person is Robert Randazzo."
A similar Randazzo ad to run in Southern Nevada features much of the same script, minus the Sferrazza reference.
Sferrazza gets some shots of her own in with ads set to run beginning Friday.
One 15-second spot by Sferrazza goes after Randazzo and Paul Murad, a third Democrat in the race, for switching parties to run for office.
It says voters can choose "one of two millionaire party switchers trying to buy the seat with six-figure bankrolls, or you could choose a real, lifelong Democrat."
The second Sferrazza spot is positive, and emphasizes her role on the Reno city council.
"Jessica Sferrazza, the lifelong Democrat who as a councilwoman secured $100 million in stimulus and bonds that wil create thousands of good paying jobs for Nevada," the ad states. "Jessica Sferrazza, a real record and a real plan."
