MacDonald Highlands to celebrate New Year

MacDonald Highlands, a luxury Henderson community, plans to celebrate New Year's Eve with a Studio 54 disco theme.

Members were sent invitations asking them to "get (their) groove on and bring your bling."

Hosted by Richard C. and Claire MacDonald, guests will enjoy an evening of dining, live music and a private fireworks display.

The Grand Highlands ballroom of MacDonald Highlands' clubhouse will be turned into a '70s- and '80s- themed disco party with disco balls, neon structures and an illuminated dance floor.

Attendees will begin the evening with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. A four-course gourmet dinner will be accompanied by dancers and other entertainment provided by LTE Ventions. DJ Jamie Phillips will keep the groove going as members dance the night away. The highlight of the evening is expected to be a fireworks show with a champagne toast.

Set off above the private golf course, guests will enjoy the Strip's fireworks as well.

"Our fireworks this year as every year will rival the major presentations on the Las Vegas Strip," said Richard C. MacDonald, developer of MacDonald Highlands. "Our members will be treated to a creative use of disco music that will be choreographed and electronically synchronized along with the aerial display."

DragonRidge Country Club is the social hub of MacDonald Highlands. Special events are organized each month for MacDonald Highlands' homeowners and DragonRidge members.

The private 18-hole golf course with its award-winning clubhouse features a gourmet dining room with views of the Las Vegas Strip, two mixed grills and lounges, a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, fitness center, swimming pool, children's pool and an extensive golf pro shop.

A complimentary social membership to the country club is provided to lot owners upon application approval, MacDonald said.

MacDonald Highlands has four custom-home neighborhoods under construction with custom lots. Each neighborhood features its own distinct topography and views. Buyers can choose from a variety of terrains including flat golf frontage, multi-level pads or hillside elevations with views of the golf course, mountain range, or panoramic views of the Las Vegas skyline.

These custom lots range from half acre to 2.5 acre parcels. Prices start at $850,000 and go to $6 million.

The community is located at 1730 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway at Valle Verde Drive. To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, east to Valle Verde and travel south to the corner of Valle Verde Drive and Horizon Ridge Parkway.

The office is open daily. For more information or to schedule a private tour of a model home, call 614-9100.
