ManhattanWest condominium development to host wine-tasting event

ManhattanWest will host a VIP wine tasting event, which is open to the public, and a sales release July 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature model tours, a flight of wines from Rock 'n Roll Wine, food and musical entertainment.

Alex Edelstein, Gemstone Development's chief executive officer, will make a live presentation at 7:15 p.m.

ManhattanWest is a mixed-use condominium community, featuring 700 residences, 150,000 square feet of office and 40,000 square feet of retail shops and restaurants on 20 landscaped acres. It is located west of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, on Russell Road, in the southwestern region of the valley. Grading is nearly completed, and the first phase is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2008.

The community has sold 100 residences in its first 90 days, making it the top selling mid-rise development in Las Vegas, according to the Ryness Report, which tracks new home sales throughout the valley.

"We are very pleased with the positive response to ManhattanWest," Edelstein said. "Buyers can't find the combination of unique features like our ninth-floor Sky Lounge, on-site doctor, errand service, coffeehouse/wine bar, and six acres of gardens, lawns and open space anywhere else -- particularly at prices starting from less than $300 per square foot."

A full-sized model residence at the sales center showcases views from around the project, as well as the wide range of options and upgrades available to residents. Guests can enjoy a beverage at the sales center's coffee bar.

ManhattanWest features mid-rise residences inspired by the architectural diversity of classic New York streetscapes. The project centerpiece is the nine-story Element House, built of glass and steel. In addition to 73 of the most exclusive residences in the community, Element House also hosts a ninth-floor lounge with rooftop pools and panoramic views of the Spring Mountains of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the Las Vegas Strip. It also houses a full kitchen and dining room, a 7,000-square-foot fitness center, billiards room, theater, guest units, business center and other club facilities, all accessible by residents living anywhere throughout the community.

Residents will enjoy a host of amenities outside as well, including a pool with a swim-up bar, waterfall and shaded grotto.

A central barbecue pavilion features refrigerated storage, ceiling fans and an audio system. Four specialty gardens include a rose garden with more than 15 varieties of roses, a hammock garden for lying out and relaxing, a bird and butterfly garden with flowers and plants designed to attract birds and butterflies and a Zen garden, sculpted of sand and stone, for meditation.

A putting green, grass volleyball court, basketball court and performance amphitheater round out the project's outdoor amenities.

Residences at the community range from 554 to 1,900 square feet and include studios, one, two and three bedrooms and lofts. Standard features include granite countertops, stainless steel Whirlpool appliances and Kohler fixtures.

Element House residences include upgraded appliances, counters and cabinets and built-in iPod docks. Mid-rise studios and one-bedroom units start in the $200,000s. Two-bedroom residence start in the low $300,000s. Lofts and three-bedroom units start in the $400,000s. Element House Residences range from the $400,000s to $1 million.

To reach the sales center, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, to the Russell Road exit and head west. Head south on Frontage Road, turn right on Oquendo Road and turn right into the Desert Canyon Office Park.
