Massage therapist digs into Juhl

Mike Peterman logs plenty of drive time as a successful massage therapist with clients throughout the Las Vegas area. On his own time, he prefers to walk most anywhere he wants to go; and that's exactly what Peterman will be doing as an upcoming resident of juhl.

Juhl is nearing completion at the corner of Bonneville Avenue and 4th Street in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. Its first residents will move in this summer.

Peterman's two-bedroom residence is located in the 15-story high-rise building, one of six buildings within the multi-rise project.

"When I lived in New Jersey, I used to love going into Manhattan and walking around the city," said Peterman, who moved to Las Vegas 13 years ago. "There's a real energy in downtown Las Vegas these days, and I can't wait to be a part of it. The idea that I can walk to restaurants, stores, the movies and downtown nightlife is very enticing."

The project is near the Fremont Street Experience, the Fremont East District, the World Market Complex and the locations of the planned Smith Center for the Performing Arts and World Jewelry Center.

Peterman said he is also enthusiastic about juhl's amenities, which will encompass a two-story fitness center, rooftop courtyard with 75-foot swimming pool and spa, gated underground parking and 24-hour security including a doorman.

The project, which is being developed by CityMark Development, will house 24,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Some of the proposed stores include an urban coffee house, gourmet sandwich shop and a boutique beauty salon.

The floor plans are flexible. Peterman opted to leave his home's secondary bedroom open to expand the living area. His floor-to-ceiling windows will provide a scenic mountain view.

Priced from the high $300,000s, juhl offers live/work warehouse lofts, mid-rise and high-rise lofts, townhouses, flats and penthouses. Buyers can choose from more than 100 one- and two-story floor plans.

The one- and two-bedroom range from 757 to 2,200 square feet, highlighted by exposed mechanicals and concrete surfaces as well as floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for natural light and city and mountain views. Customizing opportunities are available through Creative Touch Interiors.

Kitchens feature maple cabinetry, stainless-steel General Electric appliances, gas stovetops, granite slab countertops, and island counters. Other features are high-speed Internet access, energy-efficient air conditioning and forced air heating and private patios or balconies.

To visit, exit Interstate 15 at Charleston Boulevard and head east. Turn left on Grand Central Parkway, right on Bonneville Avenue and proceed to 255 E. Bonneville.

The Information Studio is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Monday when it opens at noon.
