Meritage Homes goes green with new model
Meritage Homes Corp. is beginning construction on a model home that will showcase its new green production home.
The model will be located within the Providence planned community of Northern Terrace in Centennial Hills.
Meritage Homes officials say the homes will be built with innovative energy-efficient technologies.
A select number of homes at Northern Terrace will offer a solar energy system, an amenity included in the base price of the home.
Prices for the builder's new Meritage Green homes at Northern Terrace will start in the $150,000s.
The specially designed model home will be "deconstructed" to show potential homeowners all of the energy-saving features being incorporated into the home, including spray foam insulation that seals in air conditioning while keeping dirt and pollution out. Meritage Homes officials said these new homes can save homeowners up to 60 percent on their utility bills when compared to a typical existing home.
Construction crews installed the fast-forming spray foam insulation last week.
