Mexico/Lake Mead pact a big deal for Las Vegas

This might be the biggest news story of the year. Today the United States and Mexico reached an agreement on storage for Mexico's Colorado River water allotment in Lake Mead.

It has several important short-term and long-term ramifications.

Not the least of which is what it could mean decades from now for the growth of Las Vegas.

In subsequent stories, I am sure, the Review-Journal will give us a blow-by-blow on the Nevadans who played a part in the deal. I expect the Nevada delegation and the Obama administration played a key role, besides Pat Mulroy and other state and local water decision-makers. Congratulations go out to all.
