Minutemen Endorsing Tarkanian in U.S. Senate Race

The Minutemen, an anti-illegal immigration group, is endorsing Danny Tarkanian in the U.S. Senate race as Republicans latch onto the election-year issue in the wake of Arizona passing a law that gives law enforcement authorities the right to question suspected illegal immigrants in some cases.

Tarkanian and the other Republicans vying in the primary for a chance to face U.S. Sen. Harry Reid in the fall already have praised Arizona for doing something to stop the influx of illegal immigrants coming across the U.S. borders, especially those who are criminals involved in the drug wars. The candidates also have blamed the federal government for not doing its job to secure the border.

Now Jim Gilchrist, one of the leaders of the Minuteman Project, is endorsing Tarkanian, saying he's "our kind of guy" and agrees with his group's tough stance against illegal immigrants living in American. The Minutemen gained headlines several years ago by taking up arms at the border to protest illegal immigrants sneaking into the country.

Gilchrist says he also plans to come to Nevada on Monday to campaign for Tarkanian in Las Vegas and Reno.

Below is the Minuteman endorsement letter going out later today to the group's 1.8 million members, according to the person who passed along the missive to the Review-Journal.

Fellow Patriots;

You and I know that Harry Reid proposing Amnesty in Congress this week is nothing more than a blatant political attempt to get votes for his campaign back home in Nevada.  Why?  Because REAL conservatives are kicking his teeth in on commercials all over TV and will do so in November at the ballot box.

Are you as sick and tired of all of the political hacks in DC trying every excuse in the book as a reason to not secure the border?   Are you as fed up as me with the refusal of Harry Reid and the political establishment to enforce current immigration laws?  Heck, all the Arizona law is asking the police to do is enforce the current law as has been on the books for over 55 years!!

That is why conservatives all over the country are getting behind Harry Reid’s worst nightmare.  The threat to Harry Reid’s job as US Senator is called Danny Tarkanian.

Danny Tarkanian is our kind of guy.

Danny Tarkanian’s political philosophy is based on constitutional conservatism and liberty.  When he ran for Secretary of State in Nevada he demanded Voter ID to make sure illegal aliens did not vote.  And now that he is running for US Senate to kick out Harry Reid he is demanding all the things that you and I care about:

1. Secure the borders by building a fence.
2. Use the United States Military to stop illegals from entering the United States.
3. Eliminate benefits for illegals including non-emergency healthcare and education.
4. No drivers licenses for illegals.
5. Pursue and punish employers who try to profit by employing illegals.
6. No amnesty.

In fact, check out his ad he is running on radio right now on immigration.  Danny Tarkanian is not just checking the immigration box on the campaign trail; he is actively talking to the voters of Nevada about the harmful effects of illegals on taxpayers all over the United States.

Isn’t that what we all want?  Isn’t that the reason we need to get rid of Harry Reid?

I want you to join with me in helping Harry Reid out of a job.  I need Minutemen all over the United States to send $10, $25, $50, or more to help Danny Tarkanian in his bid to unseat Harry Reid.

We need more politicians that are willing to make a positive stand on stopping illegal immigration like Danny Tarkanian.  I hope you will help me keep this radio ad on the air by donating even a small amount to let voters know of Danny’s strong stand on illegal immigration.  

After all, it is not just the fault of illegals for breaking our laws.  We have to blame the politicians that continue to give benefits and the employers who continue to hire illegals.
