More congressional potty mouth
In what is at least the second publicized case this year of congressional potty mouth, Roll Call reports that coarse language was heard during a Democratic caucus Thursday.
Many Democrats are frustrated -- some apparently to the point of profanity -- over the tax cut compromise President Barack Obama negotiated with Republicans.
At one point during a closed door meeting, as Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., was speaking in defense of Obama, "one unidentified lawmaker went so far as to mutter 'f--- the president,'" according to Roll Call.
Berkley confirmed the incident but declined to point a finger at the lawmaker. "It wasn't loud," she said.
While the f-word likely is used quite liberally on Capitol Hill, this was at least the second reported case this year where it caused some awkwardness.
In January, Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., created headlines when it leaked she told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a meeting that Democrats would be "f---ed" if they did not get their act together on fixing the economy.
Just to check, Political Eye asked Titus spokesman Andrew Stoddard whether she could have been a repeat offender at this week's caucus.
"I wonder why you would think it's her?" Stoddard said. Another Capitol Hill source confirmed it was not Titus.
