More exposures for Heck

As further evidence that incoming U.S. House representative Joe Heck may become one of the more visible members of the 85-member Republican freshman class, Roll Call said today it plans to photo-document his first year in Congress.

Photographer Bill Clark followed around the Nevadan during freshman orientation this month. The Capitol Hill newspaper/newsite published a two-page spread today of Heck's first few days that included a photo of him inspecting a new office.

Roll Call had sent Clark and a reporter to Southern Nevada during the fall to cover the race between Heck and incumbent Rep. Dina Titus, and Clark was back in Las Vegas again on election night. After the election, Roll Call proposed to continue following Heck in the same way it did freshman Sen. Mark Warner in 2009, according to Heck spokeswoman Mari Nakashima.

Videographer Andrew Satter also has begun compiling Heck footage, according to Roll Call photo editor Doug Graham, who said the newspaper may publish and post four or five installments of the feature during the year.

Heck has gotten off to an active start after being elected a freshman member of the House Republican steering committee that recommends work assignments for GOP members. He also has gotten attention for being one of the new lawmakers who plans to sleep in his office.

Among the photos published today is this one of Heck getting a kiss from his wife Lisa as they wait for the office selection process to begin on Nov. 19.
