More on Arizona’s new illegal alien law
Hear the response to Arizona's new law that says that it is illegal under Arizona law for a person to be in the country illegally:
"It's going to change our lives. "We can't walk to school any more. We can't be in the streets anymore without the pigs thinking we're illegal immigrants." -- Emilio Almodovar, a 13-year-old American citizen from Phoenix. ("Pigs"? Pls.)
The new law "launches Arizona into a spiral of pervasive fear, community distrust, increased crime and costly litigation, with nationwide repercussions." -- The Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund.
Even the president slammed the new Arizona law, saying we need federal reform of immigration laws. Well, step up to the plate and take a swing at that pitch, Mr. President.
in the meanwhile, is it too much to ask you to enforce illegal immigration laws and better secure the Mexican border? In Arizona alone there are an estimated 460,000 illegal Mexicans, making the southern deserts of Arizona a dangerous corridor for the transport of illegal aliens and drugs from Mexico.
As we watch this drama unfold, seems to me Gov. Brewer is on the right track when she says:
"We must enforce the law evenly, and without regard to skin color, accent, or social status. We must prove the alarmists and the cynics wrong."
