More on Reid and Ford …

The New York papers reported last week that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was trying to discourage former congressman Harold Ford Jr. from challenging incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the state's Democratic primary this year.

A New York Times story this morning might give a clue. Discussing a possible candidacy, Ford says he will be more independent than Gillibrand.

“If I am elected senator from New York, Harry Reid will not instruct me how to vote,” he said.
