Mountain Falls hosts barbecues

Mountain Falls, a master-planned community in Pahrump, recently held two resident-appreciation barbecues at its golf club and restaurant, The Grill Room.
The Mountain Falls community facility was the setting for July 21 and Aug. 17 pool parties. Hundreds of homeowners and their guests gathered both days to enjoy food, a pool party and the company of neighbors, according to Josh Gaston, resident facility manager.
The resident facility, perched alongside Mountain Falls Golf Club, is located in the heart of the William Lyon Homes master-planned community, which is located 45 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.
"Our aquatic center is always alive with laughter and splashing, but there was something extra special in the air during our resident-appreciation barbecues. Many people commented that they could feel that community spirit that's so hard to define," Gaston said.
The Grill Room at Mountain Falls Golf Club helped set the tone for the casual picnic atmosphere, Gaston said. The Grill Room shares the clubhouse where the community resident facility and its aquatic center are located.
The restaurant, which is open to the public, serves breakfast and lunch daily, dinner Thursday through Saturday, and Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The restaurant also serves poolside snacks to swimmers and their guests.
"Residents know and love the Grill Room as their community restaurant, so it was fitting to have staff serving up summertime comfort foods," Gaston said.
In addition to providing views of Mt. Charleston and the surrounding peaks, the resident facility provided entertainment for guests of every age. People had use of the aquatic center's 25-yard lap pool and Jacuzzi, both reserved just for adults.
"Nothing compares to seeing children get soaked under the bucket dump and enjoy countless trips through our giant water ring," Gaston said.
The community resident facility also offers a fitness center, locker rooms and resident lounge with a pool table. For a nominal fee, residents can participate in fitness and recreational classes held in the multipurpose room.
Other common amenities include dozens of neighborhood mini-parks and walking trails.
Homeowner association fees are set at less than $45 monthly.
Seven single-story communities are available. William Lyon Homes offers Entrata, Cascata Ancora, Tramonto and Bella Sera. Floor plans measure 1,157 to 2,897 square feet with up to five bedrooms and four baths. Prices start in the high $100,000s.
Presales are under way at Celebrate Homes' Villa Serena and Villagio communities, where home buyers can choose from six floor plans ranging from 1,609 to 2,513 square feet. Layouts offer up to four bedrooms and three baths. Homes are priced from the low $200,000s.
Interest in Pahrump real estate perked up in recent years because of the town's proximity to Las Vegas and comparatively low housing prices. Many Pahrump residents commute to jobs in Las Vegas.
Also in its presales phase, Tivoli by Desert Wind Homes features three home designs offering 1,938 to 2,097 square feet.
Priced from the $200,000s, floor plans include as many as four bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. Classic Homes will begin offering additional home choices soon.
To visit, travel about 45 miles west on State Route 160 (Blue Diamond Road) past Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch and turn right, then left on Lakeview.
