Mountain’s Edge developer makes donation to first elementary school

Wright Elementary School opened for students from Mountain's Edge and surrounding areas this past fall. To ensure faculty and staff have the resources they need, developer of Mountain's Edge master-planned community, Focus Property Group, has donated $55,000 to the elementary school.

Community development director for Mountains Edge, Randy Brown, presented Principal Betty Roqueni with the donation, which will be used to complete a fundraising effort to secure books for students at the school.

"Through only a few months of its first year educating students, Wright Elementary has made a tremendously positive impact on Mountain's Edge and the children of its residents," Brown said. "Focus is pleased to be able to help the talented and committed faculty and staff at Wright Elementary, as they continue their important work in our community."

Brown, a resident of Mountain's Edge, whose wife Carol also is on staff at the school, presented Roqueni with checks totalling $55,000, which will be added to a $30,000 contribution from Clark County School District.

The combined funds meet a targeted $85,000 goal, outlined by Roqueni to secure books for the elementary school.

Focus became involved in helping Roqueni achieve this goal, after the company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, John A. Ritter, learned about the school's lack of text and reading books.

Ritter and other Focus executives combined donations from Focus, the Ritter Charitable Trust, individual Focus employees and the Mountain's Edge Builder's co-op to raise the funds needed for Wright Elementary.

"On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of William V. Wright Elementary, I'd like to express our appreciation for the commitment and generosity of Focus Property Group and its entities and the Clark County School District," said Roqueni. "A school is only as strong as the community that supports it ..."

Prior to the school's opening last fall, Focus donated $16,000 to help in the purchase of instruments for the school's music program.

"Focus is committed to supporting this community and especially the children who live here," Brown said.

Recently certified by Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCo), an independent real estate advisory firm, as the second fastest selling master-planned community in the United States in 2006, Mountain's Edge will include four elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school.

The community will have a fire station; shopping centers, restaurants and commercial office space.

The development's Home Search Café, located at the community's entrance on Buffalo Drive and Blue Diamond Road, provides information on builders, homes and amenities. The Café is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily.
