MOVIES: Special screenings — ‘Back Room’ premiere revives grindhouse style
July 9, 2010 - 3:08 pm
Grindhouse fans (and you know who you are), prepare to celebrate the return of blood, guts and gore, with Saturday night's premiere of the new horror movie "The Back Room."
The premiere is scheduled at 8 p.m. at the Sci Fi Center, 900 E. Karen Ave., D-202. Tickets, priced at $7, are available at the door.
The movie is filming in the so-called grindhouse style, as an homage to the exploitative B-movie thrillers and chillers that played dilapidated downtown theaters in the 1960s and '70s.
Tim Stover directs the tale of a guy next door — who jut happens to be a serial killer. Jeremy Goodwin and Ronni Lea co-star with plenty of blood, gore and disturbing images. (Some so disturbing that the "Christmas in the Back Room" trailer was banned from some social media sites, according to Stover.
