MUSIC: Killers headline Coachella; could Paul McCartney be coming to Vegas?

    The speculation is over.
    Let the speculation begin.
The much-anticipated lineup for this year’s Coachella music fest, which takes place on April 17-19 in Indio, Calif., finally has been announced.
Vegas’ own The Killers, pictured at right, have been tabbed as the headliners for Saturday, April 18, along with Amy Winehouse, TV on the Radio, Mastodon and, most importantly, Turbonegro.
The fest’s opening night will be headlined by Paul McCartney, along with Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand and the immortal Leonard Cohen who will most likely grossly outshine them all.
Coachella’s closing night will feature The Cure, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Throbbing Gristle, and, at long last, My Bloody Valentine.
Of course, every year around Coachella time, Vegas normally gets a visit from assorted acts who play the fest either on their way to or their way back from the event.
On April 17, The Killers will play the new Joint before heading down to Coachella.
No word yet on whether or not that will be the venue’s grand opening weekend, but if so, couldn’t you just see Sir Paul playing there on Saturday, the night after he headlines Coachella?
    Stay tuned …
