MUSIC: Rednecks and Ringo: Weekend concert roundup

Their frontman sounds kind of like a water buffalo getting socked in the gut with a bowling ball, but, you know, in a good way.
Their name is Terror and this is what they inspire.
One of the better old-school hard-core bands out there, Terror doesn’t succumb to the all-out At The Gates worship that defines many of their new jack peers these days, offering a welcome break from the increasingly overstuffed metalcore ranks.
Instead, the band comes with vein-bulging shout-alongs with cinder-block heavy thrash riffing and lots of gang vocal choruses and bloody knuckles.
Go see ’em at Jillian’s tonight and you will see at least 134 percent increase in chest hair.
If trading elbows with a bunch of sweaty dudes isn’t your thing, check out the Pandas and the Shys at the Beauty Bar tonight instead.
The Pandas are one of Vegas’ better bands, a blissed-out psych pop troupe with the kind of flesh-tingling tunes you feel in your spine.
The Shys come with flame throwin’ guitars and a hefty arsenal of hip shakin’ rock ’n’ roll fired up with some voodoo organ.
As for us, we’ll be checkin’ out Satan’s little helpers the Alkaline Trio at the House of Blues.
Check back here tomorrow for a recap.
Elsewhere this weekend, on Saturday, Wyclef Jean plays the Hard Rock pool.
Good luck trying to actually see the show at that place.
For those who lack cerebellums, there’s Toby Keith at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
And if you’re up for a short road trip, Ringo Starr is playing in Primm with a slew of guest musicians, including Edgar Winter.
Believe it or not, Winter is still rockin’ pretty hard these days.
On his latest disc, “Rebel Road,” the guitars froth like high tide with Slash and Johnny Winter adding still more slobbering six-string acrobatics to proceedings.
And it has a tune on their called “The Power of Positive Drinking,” which has since become our new life’s motto.
    Bottoms up, dudes.
